homeless mealEvery year Table of Hope steps up to cook breakfast and dinner for 15 days for 80 people at the city’s overflow shelter. This year, our dates are Dec. 1-15. These meals are sometimes made by a group or club, who fix it and bring it to the shelter at 829 N. Market, serve it and clean up afterwards. What a generous gift!

Other meals are cooked at the church, transported to the shelter, served and cleaned up. So far, that’s going to be 28 of our 30 meals. Can you help with any of the others? A breakfast meal requires coming to church at 4:30 a.m. to cook a meat-laden dish (e.g., sausage gravy and biscuits, sausage and eggs, sausage and pancakes), take it to the shelter, serve and clean up. You should get out by 7.

Dinner prep can begin whenever you wish, and you can use the church’s stove or outdoor grill. But the meal must be at the shelter, ready to serve, at 6 p.m. Clean up gets you out by 7:15. Can you and friends or family provide a meal? If not, can you come down to church to prepare either meal? More than one time? Please call Greg at 316-461-6585 if you can help with breakfast; text Kim at 316-393-4210 to offer dinner help. Our goal is to provide meat-based meals that will provide enough protein to get those eating them through the day or night.
